Holiday Wednesday Means Early Deadlines

The Monticello News will be published next week, as usual, on Thursday, meaning subscribers will receive it in their mailboxes on Thursday.

However, with the holiday Wednesday, the newspaper will be printed on Tuesday and available in the newsstands and stores throughout the county Tuesday evening and Wednesday.

Because of the early printing deadline, we would appreciate early submission of all articles, ads, and information to be included in next week’s newspaper.

To assure inclusion in the paper, items should be submitted no later than noon Monday, July 2, and earlier would be advantageous.

The News office, like all banks, post offices, most government offices and most businesses will be closed Wednesday, July 4, for the Independence Day holiday.

However, public safety officials will be at work as usual to respond to emergencies.

The Monticello City Council recently approved a gathering at Funderburg Park for the holiday, but no one has informed The News of any special public plans for the holiday.

Traditionally, Shady Dale holds an Independence Day celebration, but again it has not been publicized in The News.
