Annual Youth Football Camp Set

The Monticello Hurricane football program will sponsor its 8th annual Hurricane Youth Football Camp Monday, June 25 through Thursday, June 28 located at Rose Bowl Field.

The camp is for rising second graders through rising eighth graders and costs $50. Sessions will begin at 9 a.m. each morning and conclude at noon. Wednesday’s session will include a trip to Mercer University’s Macon campus and include a tour of their weight room and athletic facilities with pizza for lunch that afternoon.

The youth camp will be coordinated and led by long-time coach and new varsity head coach Rydell Jackson, his staff, and players from the 2017 squad.

The camp will include skills and activities such as blocking, tackling, passing, and catching. Also speeches on character education, guest speakers, obstacle courses and a punt, pass and kick competition. Trophies, t-shirts, and awards will be handed out.

“This camp is an excellent opportunity to introduce your child to the basics of football,” said Coach Jackson. “if your child is already playing football, it will allow them to improve and refine their skills during these four days. Our staff is a tremendous group of coaches that will take the time to make your child’s experience with us very enjoyable.”

Campers should wear shorts, t-shirt, athletic shoes or cleats. Sunscreen will be neccessary. Campers must also bring a water bottle but there will be plenty of water and sports drinks available.

Checks should be made payable to: Hurricane Athletic Booster Club.

For questions about the camp contact Coach Jackson at Jasper County High School, 14477 Hwy. 11 North, Monticello, Georgia 31064 or call 706-476-3798.
