On July 18, 1977 a legend was born, Mr. Ivan Tirrell Lawrence. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bobby and Loretta Lawrence at Baldwin County Hospital in Milledgeville, GA.
Ivan was preceded in death by a son, Nacorrion Ross; grandfather, Rubin Brown; grandmother, Mary Lawrence; and a sister, Mrs. Denise Sands Gotel.
Ivan was a proud 1995 graduate of Jasper County High School. At an early age, he joined The Community Church of Christ in Monticello. Later in life, he became a member of Springfield Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Jimmy Horton.
Ivan, also known as “Peabody” enjoyed restoring cars and all sports. He had a passion for encouraging young people to better themselves. He was an entrepreneur of multiple businesses: auto mobile detailing, limo service and an event planner; as well as being employed with Walmart Distribution Center in Monroe, GA.
Ivan’s desire was to bring the city of Monticello together by having many events such as the annual Monticello Day, classic car shows and Fun Day for kids in Funderburg Park. He was truly a visionary in the city of Monticello.
On June 1, 2018, Ivan departed from labor to reward but his spirit lives on in the many lives that he touched. He leaves to cherish his memories: his high school sweetheart of 24 years, Valencia Clark; four children: De’Ivion Lawrence, Dequavious Norwood, Tyrin Lawrence and Tayloir Lawrence; parents: Bobby and Loretta Lawrence; grandparents, Mrs. Roberta Brown and Leroy Head, Sr.; sister: Lyshon Brown; brothers: Jimmy Lee Jeffries, Dementrez Swain and Rashad Ross; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Also a special cousin, Marteal Clements and a devoted friend, Tony Moore.
