Mary Sue Parker Johnson

Mary Sue Parker Johnson, age 77, of Milledgeville, died peacefully Monday, May 21, 2018, at the Navicent Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Mary Sue Johnson was born in Cleveland County, N.C. to the late Irvin Parker and Texie Tallent Parker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Johnson; sisters, Minnie P. Benton and Betty Ellsworth; and brother, J. R. Parker.

Mary Sue Johnson graduated from Gargile Beauty College in March of 1963 and became a certified beautician. She attended Macon Vocational School and received her GED in August of 1968; she took nursing classes but could not complete the course due to health issues.

Some of her fondest memories are when she and husband, Lee, lived in Germany while he was serving in the U. S. Army. They moved to Hillsboro which she always considered home. She moved to Milledgeville in March of 1992. Due to declining health, she moved to Green Acres Nursing Home in March of 2018.

She greatly enjoyed working in her yard and watching the hummingbirds. She loved dogs; especially her dog Sissy; watching and attending dog races; and playing Lotto.

She is survived by her brothers and sisters, W. T. Parker of Alabama, Irvin Parker of Gray, Frances Shatterly of Hillsboro and Florie Atkinson of Madison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018, at Union Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hillsboro where family will gather to celebrate her life and memory. Rev. Harold Thompson will officiate.
