Fleetie Irene Smith McMullen

Fleetie Irene Smith McMullen, age 97, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018, at The Retreat Nursing Home.

Fleetie McMullen was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Her parents were the late Jay Smith and Kate Celeste Stone McMullen. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Loyce McMullen; son, Wayne McMullen; and sisters, Sara Mae Harvey, Viola Smith and Eleanor Lee.

She was a member of the Monticello Baptist Church. She loved to travel with the AARP members, garden and work in the yard. Before retirement, she worked as a supervisor for American Mills in Jackson and the Monticello Manufacturing Company.

She is survived by her son, Ronald J. (Joan) McMullen of Jackson; daughter-in-law, Wanda McMullen of Covington; grandchildren, Jennifer Smith, Stacey (Kevin) Smith and Willie (Tammy) McMullen; and great-grandchildren, Erin Fountain, Brayden Smith, Dalton Smith, Carson Smith, Taylor McMullen and Aubrey McMullen.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2018, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held in Williams Payne Cemetery. Rev. David Artessa will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 a.m., Monday, May 21, 2018, prior to the service at Jordan Funeral Home.
