Diamond Cougars Win Fifth Consecutive State Title

For the fifth time in as many seasons, the Piedmont Academy baseball program is the king the mountain.

The Diamond Cougars rallied to defeat Windsor Academy two games to one in the GISA Class AA state title series hosted by Mercer University of Macon. The Knights took the series opener 4-2 before Piedmont would earn 8-2 and 10-0 victories.

Sam Wright, Chase Porter, Tate Marks and Cameron Mobley handled the pitches duties in the series which began Friday and lasted through Sunday due to weather delays.

Rob Allgood homered in game one. Zach Spivey also had a big offensive series as did several Cougar players.

Piedmont and Windsor also compete in the same region. The Cougars swept the regular season series with the Knights.
