Five Hurricanes To Compete at State Trace Meet
Five Jasper County High School Hurricane athletes are particpating in the Georgia High School Association’s State Track and Field Championships today and tomorrow, May 10-11 at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany.
During the Region 8-AA Championships held recently the following competitors finished well enough to compete at state:
Girls 4×100 Relay— Second place were Kerri Bonner, Kya West, Madison Abbott and Alicia Tripp
Discus—Fourth place was Alicia Tripp
Girls 1600 & 3200 Meter Runs—Region Champion Alina Jablonski and Mari Jablonski Region Runner up
Boys High Jump—Region Champion Dwaynell Connor and fourth place was DeEric Driskell.
Boys 1600 &3200 Meter Runs—Fourth place was DeMario Thomas
100 Meter Run—Fourth place was William Stewart
Alina and Mari Jablonski who placed first and second at region in both the 1600 and 3200 meter runs will compete in the 3200 state run today and the 1600 run tomorrow.
Dwaynell Connor, the region high jump champion, placed third at sectionals and DeEric Driskell who finished fourth at region and fifth at sectionals will also compete today at state along with the Jablonskis.
DeMario Thomas, who finished fourth in the 1600 and 3200 meter runs at region and finished fifth in the 3200 at sectionals, will compete on Friday at state.
