Several Are Sentenced in Superior Court
Judge E Trenton Brown, III presided over the arraignment and motion day calendars in Jasper Superior Court last Tuesday.
The judge doled out jail time for three new offenders in addition to revoking probation for a handful of repeat offenders. Sentences include:
Lontavious Nelson, sentenced to two years in confinement for identity fraud.
Shelby Kirk, sentenced to one year in confinement for possession of methamphetamine while being credited for time served since May 2017.
Timothy Wyatt, sentenced to 12 months in Jasper County jail for two counts of theft by taking in one criminal case while he received five years of probation for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school and obstruction of an officer in a separate case.
Christopher Thomas, probation revoked to the state penal system for a guilty sentence by a jury of his peers in November 2017 in Walton County for aggravated assault and aggravated battery.
Franklin Barrington, probation revoked to the state penal system for three new offenses in 2017 committed in Newton and Henry counties including theft by shoplifting, aggravated assault, false imprisonment, battery, robbery, kidnapping, possession of a knife during commission of a felony.
Carl Mahaffey, sentenced to 180 days in Jasper County jail but suspended upon entry into a state probation detention center for 60 to 90 days for drug use, moving without permission, failure to report to the probation office, failure to pay court fees, failure to complete, failure to complete community service and failure to attend substance abuse treatment.
Judge Brown set bond orders for Steve Shirley, Tammy croy, Robin Motes, and Kent Miller. He also reviewed six civil cases including a nuisance case brought forth by the City of Monticello against the Colored Free and Accepted Ancient Yorknight Masons.
