Norman Standifer

A celebration of the life of Norman Standifer, who died April 9, 2018, was held Saturday, April 14, at St. John C.M.E. Church in Monticello. Rev. Lavonia K. McIntyre is pastor, Rev. Terry Glawson officiated. Burial was in Southview Cemetery.

Norman “Sandman” , “Fly” Standifer was born December 7, 1953, in Monticello, to the parentage of the late Robert Standifer and Nina Oliver Standifer. He departed this life on Monday, April 9, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Watkinsville.

Norman was a man who believed in working hard. He worked for Feldspar Corp/Ga. Mine and Plant in Monticello for 30+ years. He was a generous and fun loving man. Norman enjoyed grilling, music, softball and being with his family.

He was united in holy matrimony to Mary Lois Standifer 40 years ago, and from this union three children were born.

Three of his siblings preceded him in death; two brothers, Nelson and Lester Standifer and a sister Glenda Standifer.

His memory will be cherished by wife, Mary Lois Standifer; son, Quartterio Cormel Standifer (Rachel); daughters, Kita Standifer and Kenisha Standifer; a sister, Barbara Whidby, three brothers, Eddie Standifer, Robert James Standifer (Cindy), and Wilbur Standifer (Abigail; three grandchildren, Keronta Standifer, Ta’Kya Thompson, and Caleb Standifer; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Pallbearers were Ardrecus Banks, Darrius McMullen, Keifer Cook, Quentrell McMullen, and Jerraymus Touchstone,. Flower ladies were Tamara Whidby, Jenise Standifer, Sameitra Standifer, Katrina Whidby, Granikea Standifer and Shakela Standifer.
