James Harold “Junior” Willis, Jr.

James Harold “Junior” Willis, Jr., age 52, of Monticello, passed away Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Junior Willis was born in Atlanta. He lived in Jonesboro, before moving to Jasper County in 1978.

Junior worked as a truck driver for Advance Disposal for a number of years. He served as a volunteer fireman for Jackson Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Station 1 for over 20 years; and held the Chief position for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Karen W. Thomaston; grandparents; several aunts and uncles; and good friend, Chip Mattison.

He is survived by his son, James L. “Jamie” Willis of Monticello; grandchildren, Bailey Willis and Bella Carlile of Monticello and Shyann Collins of Fort Myers, Fla.; parents, James H., Sr. and Doris Robbins Willis of Monticello; brother-in-law, Mark Thomaston of Monticello; nephew and niece, Brett Thomaston of Covington and Tori Thomaston of Eatonton; great nieces and great nephew, Aaliyah Carter, Zykira Dunn, Zoey Dunn and Noah Atkinson; a number of aunts, uncles and cousins; and good friend, Patrick Holden of Newnan.

A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home at 2 p.m., Sunday, April 15, 2018.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made in his name to the Jackson Lake Volunteer Fire Department, Station 1, 4431 Jackson Lake Road, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
