Danny Tumlin Wins March Madness Contest

Danny Tumlin is The Monticello News’ inaugural winner of the March Madness Basketball Contest.

Mr. Tumlin was third in total points headed into the Final Four last weekend but surged ahead with his pick of Villanova for the win. He had earned 32 points last week and added another 28 following Villonova’s wins Saturday and Monday.

Mr. Tumlin finished with 60 points while Chapman Jordan, who also picked Villanova for the win, cruised into second with 52 points and Stan Humpreys finished third with 40 points after picking Villanova for the semifinal.

For his basketball acumen, Mr. Tumlin received $50, a News t-shirt and one year’s subscription. The News thanks contest sponsors Larry’s 4-Way, Bulldog Gym, and Jasper County Recreation Department once again.
