Piedmont Tennis Enjoys Success
Piedmont Academy’s 2018 tennis teams have worked to earn success during the first portion of the season.
Team members for coach Allison Hildebrant include seniors Grayson Bradley, Ivy English, Anne Marie Hildebrant, Dan Respess and Caleb Vanderven, juniors Gracie Hunt and Ryn Smith, sophomore Emily Mills and freshmen Banks Benton and Beau Bradley.
Piedmont began the season on March 8 at Brentwood in Sandersville.
“Both the boys and girls competed well,” said Coach Hildebrant. “It was tough but we battled through the nerves.”
Hunt earned a win at No. 1 singles for the Lady Cougars.
On March 15 the Lady Cougars faced Thomas Jefferson in a doubleheader.
“Wind was a huge factor which resulted in really testing your tennis ball handling skills,” Hildebrant.
Hunt won both matches at No. 1 singles. Smith and English fell at No. 2 doubles in the first round but rallied to win in the next match.
Piedmont took a sweep of Windsor on March 23. Hunt won both matches at No. 1 singles while Mills played well at No. 2 singles, her coach said.
Anne Marie Hildebrant and Grayson Bradley won at No. 1 doubles while English and Smith defeated their opponents.
Piedmont then traveled to Athens to face Monsignor Donovan on Monday. The Piedmont boys swept the doubles action.
