PA Golfers Begin Season

Piedmont Academy’s golf team has one match under its belts and will return to competition this week.

The Cougars played a tri-school match recently against John Milledge Academy and Brentwood in Milledgeville. Sam Younker was the team low medalist.

Also competing for the Piedmont golf team this spring include Matthew Griffin, Logan Conner, Landon Conner, Trent Coots and Banks Benton. The team is coached by Will Johnson.

The Cougars will play in Sandersville today, March 29 against Brentwood.

“Our main focus is to continue to get ready for the upcoming region tournament,” Johnson said. “We are a young team overall.”

The region meet will be April 16 in Athens at Jennings Mill Country Club.

A scheduled match against Gatewood this season was rained out but Johnson said he hopes to be able to reschedule it.
