Sheriff’s Office Stays Busy

No one was seriously injured when these two cars collided last Saturday on Hwy. 11 south at Goolsby Road.

Both Emily James in a Chevrolet Malibu and Marshall Tillman in a Honda Fit were headed south on Hwy. 11, according to the report from the Georgia State Patrol.

Mr. Tillman stopped to turn left onto Goolsby Road, and Miss James struck him from behind. The accident was one of 10 deputies responded to in the last week.

Deputies also were involved in a chase Saturday afternoon, where a juvenile took a car, and led officers for a while. He was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, failure to obey a traffic control device, fleeing/attempting to elude an officer, driving without a license, stolen vehicle, obstruction/resisting arrest, and other charges.

Deputies were called to Washington Park School last week when a student took a airsoft pistol to the school. The student was detained, and is now being dealt with by juvenile authorities. There were no threats made to any students or the school, and no one was injured.

The previous week, Jasper County Middle School was the object of threats on social media, but everything remained safe at the school.
