Persons Qualify for Election

Qualifying for all mid-term elections is this week, and in Jasper County that means Districts 1, 3, and 5 for the school board and Districts 2 and 4 for the County Commission.

As of mid-morning Wednesday, one person had qualified for each Board of Education seat. As previously announced, Towonder Dennis qualified for the District 1 seat. Incumbent Dr. Shannon Barton has qualified for the District 3 seat, and Misty Ledford (see related story) has qualified for the District 5 seat.

For the county commission, incumbent Bruce Henry has qualified for the District 2 seat, and there were no other qualifiers as of Wednesday.

In addition, State Rep. Susan Holmes has qualified for re-election.

Qualifying will continue through noon Friday, March 9.
