Lady Canes Have Productive Season

The Lady Hurricanes brought their 2017-2018 season to a close last Monday with a loss in the first round of region playoffs but the season produced a lot to build upon for the forthcoming season.

The squad will lose one senior Alyssa Wilson but looks to return the remainder of the squad including four juniors, four sophomores and one freshman.

Team totals and averages for the season include 854 total points scored with 37.1 points per game; 198 total rebounds with 8.6 per game; and 105 total steals with 4.6 per game.

Individual statistics included Wilson with 75 points in 14 games with 36 rebounds; Lacey Rutledge with nine points; Mackenzie Tripp with 62 points, 14 rebounds, and seven steals; Madison Abbott reached 1,000 points in her career with 423 scored this season, 35 rebounds, 75 steals and a block; Mackenzie Abbott with 192 points, 27 rebounds and 20 steals; Alicia Tripp with 73 points, 84 rebounds, and three steals; Makya West with five points and two rebounds; Hallie Tripp with seven points; Jaydin Thomas with five points; and India Thomas with three points.

The varsity squad is coached by Shakeirra Middlebrooks.
