Businesses Are Nominated for Annual Award
The Monticello-Jasper County announces the 2018 nominees for Business of The Year.
Bank of Monticello, Jasper County Small Engine Repair and The Monticello News all were nominated. The nominees will be recognized at the Annual Membership Meeting held at Charlie Elliott Wildlife Conference Center on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
Bank of Monticello—this locally owned business has supported the county during the good economic times as well as the bad. It has been a cornerstone in this county for well over a hundred years. The dedicated employees and management continuously support community events and projects which help to develop the community socially, economically, and culturally. Family and hometown is important to President Walker Jordan as he follows in the footsteps as the fourth generation serving this community.
Jasper County Small Engine—Brad Mercer is known as one of the hardest working people in in our community. He is always friendly and helpful. He will stay after hours and makes house calls when needed. He has offered his expertise and services this year above and beyond the call of duty to Monticello Kart Racing.
The Monticello News —the community depends so much on the local newspaper without even realizing. Kathy Mudd and Jenny Murphy (and the other employees) cover community events and meetings and portray the happenings each week in print. Not only are they actively involved in the community serving on committees, councils and civic organizations, but recently invested in our downtown by purchasing a historic building and restoring it to move into from an outgrown and outdated building.
