Piedmont Basketball Falls to JMA

The Piedmont Academy varsity basketball teams began the second half of the season Tuesday against a quality opponent in John Milledge Academy.

The Lady Cougars were defeated 45-20 while the varsity boys fell 65-34 despite a balanced scoring attack.

Piedmont’s girls were led by Madison McCart who scored 12 points, including a 3-pointer. Alexis Dodson finished with four points while Lucy Tuggle and Deacon Robinson both scored two.

Eleven players would score for the Piedmont boys but all the points were not enough in the home contest. Tate Marks led the Cougars with 10 points. J.T. Webb added four points while Sam Wright, Caleb Coffey, Brock Greenwood and Payton Wallace all scored three points.

Bradley Greenwood, Jackson Waddleton and Talon Anglin added two points each while Dylan Coe and Caden Clark both made one free throw.

Piedmont’s varsity basketball teams will be at home for several upcoming games including Thomas Jefferson on Friday, Jan. 5 at 6 p.m., Bethlehem Christian Academy on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 1:30 p.m,. and Monsignor Donovan on Tuesday, Jan. 9 at 6 p.m.
