Few Are Sentenced in Court
The holidays have produced light court dockets in Jasper Superior Court as Judge William Prior presided this week and Judge Amanda Petty presided last week.
Judge Prior adjudicated one criminal case this week as many others were continued until the next court session. In that case, Calvin Ledford was sentenced to 90 days in Jasper County jail for several probation violation offenses. However that jail sentence was suspended upon his entry into a probation detention center for 180 days.
Under Judge Petty last week, Kendra Garza was sentenced to 150 days in Jasper County jail with the remainder of an eight year sentence to be served on probation. Her charges included possession of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, and interference with government property. Court fines total $1,000 with $650 to be paid in restitution.
