Carl Barnes Jordan Sr.

Carl Barnes Jordan Sr. of Roswell, Ga. passed away on December 6, 2017.

Mr. Jordan was born in Greenville, S.C. on April 19, 1934. When he was five years old his family returned to their original home in Monticello, GA. He completed his high school years there in 1952. After attending Davidson College in North Carolina for one year, he joined the Army serving most of his two years in Germany as an MP. When he finished his service he moved to Athens, where he worked various jobs while he took classes at the University of Georgia. He graduated in 1964 with a degree in business administration.

One of those jobs was at the Heart of Athens Motel where he began to climb a ladder of success in motel management. His management skills took him to interesting places including The Atlanta Hyatt Regency; The Downtowner Motel on Bourbon Street in New Orleans; The Saint Francis Hotel in San Francisco; The Chattanooga Choo Choo Hilton; and The Roger Miller King of the Road Hotel in Nashville, TN. In later years he lived a more settled life in Atlanta, as a property appraiser for Real Estate Evaluation, Incorporated.

He met the love of his life in 1991 when she nursed his dad during a stay at Emory Hospital. They married on Valentine’s Day 1992 giving them twenty-five years together this year. In January 1995 they were blessed with the birth of a son, (C.J.) and in 2009 they moved into their beautiful home in Roswell.

Mr. Jordan never met a stranger and spent a lifetime showing generosity and kindness to everyone he met. He was guided by his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. He and his family were continually thankful during recent Multiple Myeloma years for the excellent and compassionate care he received at Winship Cancer Center (Emory, Atlanta), Georgia Cancer Specialists in Alpharetta, and VITAS Hospice in Duluth.

Carl is predeceased by his father, W. H. Jordan, Sr., his mother, Anne E. Benton Jordan, and his brother, W. H. Jordan, Jr.

Carl is survived by his wife, Melanie Meadows Jordan and son, Carl (“C.J.”) Barnes Jordan, Jr. of Roswell GA.; sister, Joanne B. Jordan of Monticello; nieces, Anne Marie Jordan and Cynthia Jordan Feldewerth of Dunwoody.
