Mrs. Sarah Mae Bell
A celebration of life for Mrs. Sarah Mae Bell was held on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 at St. James A.M.E. Church, 514 Funderburg Drive in Monticello. Rev Donna Marie Calix, Pastor. Rev. Jimmy Horton delivered the eulogy. Burial was at Kings Chapel Church Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Sarah Mae Bell was born July 4, 1927 to the late Willie B. Clark and Lucille Clark of Monticello. She was beloved by Lilly Holloway and Nim Holloway of Monticello. The Lord called her home on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017 at the age of 90.
Mrs. Bell attended school in Monticello. She worked at Mobil Chemical and retired after 28 years of service. Mrs. Bellwas a faithful member of St. James AME Church where she served on the Senior Usher Board, Women Ministry Board and the Stewardess Board until her health failed.
On April 5, 1947, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late John Fluellis Bell and from this union five children were born.
Mrs. Bell was an excellent cook and always cooked as though every day was a feast. Her motto was “Never Let Anyone Be Hungry”. She was a mother to many and was affectionately known to many as “Ma”
Mrs. Bell was preceded in death by two children Willie “Mack” Bell and Devenat “Jean” Bell, a brother, James P Clark and four sisters, Marie Massey, Lora Belcher, Lola Davis and Iola Chapman.
She leaves to cherish her memories a daughter,Jannie Lakes, Monticello.; sons, John Bell (Judy), Angleton, TX, Lonnie Bell (Louise). Hawkinsville; devoted granddaughter, Bridget Rouse (Clarence), Tampa, FL, devoted grandson, Earnest Corbertt (Brittany), Covington, best friend, Annette Trip, Monticello, and a host of grandchildren, great grands, nieces, cousins and friends.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
