Tie-Breaker Matters Again in Football Contest

The tie-breaker was the determining factor again in last week’s Monticello News football contest, with two players correctly guessing the winner of 14 games listed.

Leslie Minter narrowly beat out Chandler Dunning and for her efforts she received a $25 prize from Marcus Proctor at EnergyWise Heating and Air, sponsor of the week. Mrs. Minter was unable to pick up her prize, and sent her husband, Roger, to do it for her.

Mr. Minter is a regular player of the football contest, but this was the first time this year that Mrs. Minter had entered. Mr. Minter indicated she did not really now how to pick the teams, but she obviously did something right.

Mrs. Minter guessed 50 points would be scored in Georgia’s triumph over Kentucky, 42-13, whereas Mr. Dunning only guessed 21 points would be scored.

Though only two had enough right to win the prize, another 15 or so had 12 or more right to have their names added to the grand prize honor roll, or to get another entry by their name.

At the end of the contest, every name on the grand prize honor roll will be entered into a drawing for tickets to the Chick-Fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta on New Year’s Day.

This week gives players another opportunity to get a $25 prize, and/or get their name on the grand prize honor roll. All you have to do is complete the entry form on page 9 of today’s paper, or fill out a separate piece of paper, and fax it to 706-468-6576, bring it to 247 West Washington St., or e-mail it to info@themonticellonews.com by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24.

Then one lucky, or smart, winner will pick up a prize from Covington Ford, sponsor of the week.
