People Are Sentenced in Court
Chad Louvoris Jeffrey is to serve 10 years in confinement after being found guilty last week during a jury trial (which was the sole jury trial) held in Jasper Superior Court. Judge Trenton Brown, III presided over a busy court calendar last week that began with trials on Monday.
Mr. Jeffrey was on trial for three counts—criminal attempt to commit a felony, obscene internet contact with a child, and computer pornography. He was sentenced to 20 years in confinement but only required to serve the initial 10 for the first count.
Terry Lynn Thompson was sentenced to five years of probation for two counts including theft by receiving stolen property and possession of firearm by a convicted felon. He was fined $1,000 and given credit for time served since June 2017.
Earnest Corbett, III was sentenced to five years of probation for two counts including possession of marijuana and possession of firearm by convicted felon. He was fined $1,000.
Christopher Lance Fowler, II was sentenced to two years of probation for three counts of forgery in the fourth degree and theft by receiving stolen property. He was fined $400 and must pay restitution of $125.
Jeremy Miles Bearden was sentenced to one year of probation for disorderly conduct and fined $300.
James Alvin Brake was sentenced to one year of probation for theft by taking and fined $400.
Judge Brown issued bond orders for several defendants including Angela Gatica for $75,000; Tavares Jackson for $45,000; Marvis Wyman, Frances Mattheus, Jennifer Thomason, each for $25,000; Kytrone Williams for $20,000; and John Thomason for $5,000.
