Football Contest Starts Next Week

The Monticello News annual football contest begins next week, so get ready.

The contest averages about 200 entries per week, in person and by fax.

There is still a sponsorship spot available, so if you want your business or service to be exposed to 5,000 readers for 15 weeks for a reasonable price, give us a call, 706-468-6511.

For those new to the game, The News will print a page with advertisements on it, and each advertiser will have a game listed by his/her name. Players pick who they think will win the game, write it on the entry form or a plain piece of paper, and bring or fax it in.

All entries must be in by 5 p.m. Friday the week of the contest. They are graded over the weekend, as the games are played, and a winner is contacted on Monday.

The winner has his photo made and collects a $25 prize from the sponsor, and is featured in that week’s newspaper. The games are a mix of high school, college, and professional.
