Canes Kick Off Season Friday
The Hurricanes varsity football squad will begin its 2017 regular season tomorrow, August 25 by hosting Athens Christian at Rose Bowl Field. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
The varsity roster of 50 plus includes seniors Braden Lynch, Jeff Cain, Eli Ewing, and Chris Pennamon.; juniors Dylan Jackson, Jamel Gude, Marquise Reese, Colton Davis, Hunter Duke, Gavriel McClain, Jay Fleetwood, Jeremiah Jackson, Rafael Perez, Dallas Card, Micah Carnes, Bryson Rosser, Grant Miller, Moses Manning, Chansler Hope, Jyrell Norwood, Jacob Parrish, Cameron LaVaughn, Jeremiah Bobbitt, Max Dotson; sophomores Joe Sands, Odalyus Thurman, Matt Cain, Christian Roberts, Jaylon Mitchell, Tellis Banks, Jordan Mitchell, Ben Lynch, Akirem Walker, Garrett Kirksey, Chantz Watts, Johari Stone, Eric Tobler, Tyler Wages, Jeffrey Fowler, Michael Clendenin, Gray Morgan, Dwaynell Connor; and freshmen Mac Barton, Graeme Williams, Chris Pittman, Chandler Dunning, William Stewart, Stephon Williams, Baylor Edge, Jaylon Peete, and Chris Bostwick.
The squad is led by Athletic Director and Head Coach Doug Huff. Assistant coaches include Rydell Jackson, Ethan Huff, Keldrick Davis, David Pittman, Matt Garvin, Matt Martin and Kenny Moore.
John Graybill is in charge of equipment and Zack Norris is athletic trainer.
Water girls are Kayln McMichael, Gracie Clendenin, and Emma Davis. Managers are Trey Huff, Drew Huff, and Camden Jackson.
This year’s schedule consist of 10 games against the same 8-AA opponents from last year. The first four competitions will be against non-region opponents with the last six being region competitors.
