ARCHERY CHAMPIONS

Archers (left to right) Abby Whittle, Austin Allen, Gracie Clendenin, and Anna Whittle were recently named the 2017 Outdoor Junior Olympic Archery Development (JOAD) Champions during a tournament held in Westfield, Indiana.

During the event Abby Whittle finished in second place (silver) in eliminations; Gracie Clendenin was named to the U.S.A. Archery Junior Dream Team, finished third (bronze) in qualifications, finished first (gold) in eliminations, and finished first (gold) in team rounds; Austin Allen finished second (silver) in qualifications, finished first (gold) in eliminations, and finished first (gold) in team rounds; and Anna Whittle finished second (silver) in team rounds.

These four archers all began with the Jasper County 4-H Archery Team of which Anna and Abby are still members. Abby, Austin and Anna are currently on the Ace Apaches at Ace Social Circle while Gracie is working to further her training with her national Coach Jesse Johnson of Azle, Tex. The team is coached by Gretchen Pruett, an eight year 4-H coach and USA Archery level 2 instructor. Mrs. Pruett’s accolades include 2017 Rookie of the Year in Womens Semi Pro, three GBAA State Championship Titles, second place in GBAA State Field Championship, Georgia State ASA Womens Open A (semi-pro) Champion, Southeast Regionals Gold Medal Champion, and second place in ASA State Championships in S.C. and Tenn.
