William Edward Crenshaw

William Edward Crenshaw, 98, former resident of Lanett, Ala., passed away at The Retreat Nursing Home, Monticello, on August 7. He was born in Lanett and lived there until moving to The Retreat four years ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrie and John Crenshaw and his loving wife of 77 years, Marguerite Barentine Crenshaw.

He is survived by two daughters, Gloria Jean (Charles) Ford of Monticello, and Sheila (Allen) Gropp of Berrien Springs, Mich.. His life was blessed with five grandchildren, Lisa (Marty) Fuller, Hillsboro; Laura (Andy) Hudgins, Covington; Lucy (Chad) Gibbs, Brooks; Michael (Pam) Gropp, White Pigeon, Mich.; and Mark (Cindy) Gropp, Woodstock. His 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren brought great joy and smiles into his life.

A celebration of life service will be held at Jordan Funeral Home in Monticello, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017. The family will receive friends at the funeral home during the hour prior to the service. A graveside service and interment will be held at the Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Lanett, Ala. at 4 p.m., Wednesday afternoon. Pastor Loren C. Sutton will officiate.
