The Public Safety Cup Goes to the..Jasper County Sheriff’s Office

The team representing the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office handily defeated the fire/rescue team in the first ever Public Safety Cup softball game held last Thursday at Jasper County Recreation Department.
The fire/rescue team scored first, and played good defense in the first inning, looking like it was going to be a battle. However, in the second, the JCSO team got several hits, taking a strong lead that it never lost.
The final was 44-15, after some 90 minutes of play.
Commission Chairman Carl Pennamon (above left) threw out the ceremonial first pitch, and the other commissioners were also on hand. Before the game was a meet and greet with members of the recreation board and new recreation director, Jonathan Green.
Recreation board members include Robert Norton, Lisa Simmons, Ashley Cedars, Emily Beasley, and Dionka Jackson.
Commissioners in addition to the chairman include Bruce Henry from District 2, Don Jernigan from District 3, and Craig Salmon from District 4.
