Deputies Repond to Reports of Theft

Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office investigated numerous reports of theft in the last week, including that of a truck and trailer holding a race car being taken from an address on Hwy. 11 north in Monticello.

In addition they are looking into a camper being stolen from an address on Bobby Mattison Road, and a 4-wheeler being stolen from an address on Dallas Trail. Furthermore, a water heater and copper pipe were taken from an address on Hwy. 142.

An individual reported the theft of a wallet containing cash on Mason Street, and another burglary was reported at Lulu’s Alley. In that incident, many items were taken including a rifle, wakeboard, several tools, sunglassses, and ipod and more.

Lastly, a report of burglary/suspicious person was called in on Aikenton Road and that resulted in an arrest.

Deputies also recovered a stolen vehicle at an address on Woodcock Court. A resident called and reported the vehicle, and deputies learned it had been stolen.

Those who were arrested and booked into the Jasper County Detention Center this week, and their charges, include:

•Christopher Wayne Jones, 37, Hillsboro—leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Oliver Cotton, 46, Atlanta—fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, driving while license suspended or revoked, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and obstruction of law enforcement officer.

•Willie Nelson Benjamin, 55, Monticello—probation violation.

•Dustin Levi Wilson, 22, Shady Dale—hold for warrant in Newton County.

•Jacob Lee Wilson, 34, Eatonton—criminal trespass.

•Alan Lane Hightower, 54, Jackson—operating vessel without lights during hours of darkness and operating a vessel under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Ryan Jerrell Norwood, 27, Monticello—possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and purchase/possess/manufacture/distribute or sale of marijuana.

•Shirley Wise Benton, 58, Monticello—pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Kisha Nicole Phillips, 35, Covington—altered license plate and driving while license suspended or revoked.

•Christy Ellen Mallory, 25, Covington—public drunkenness.

•Willie Lee McGuire, III, 27, Monticello—speeding and driving while license suspended or revoked.

•Patricia Ann Moore, 42, Griffin—possession of methamphetamine.

•Zachary Hugh Moore, 42, Griffin—possession of methamphetamine.

•Matthews Ladarrius Thomas, 20, Valdosta—aggravated child molestation.

•Jacob Brian Wrye, 31, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

•Crystal Gail Bryson, 27, Monticello—possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
