Donald Frank Jones

Donald Frank Jones, age 69, of Shady Dale, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.

Donald Jones was born in Macon, Ga., to the late Claude Franklin Jones and Lee Cofer Jones. He is an Eagle Scout and a graduate of Middle Georgia College.

Donald Jones served in the United States Navy Seabees during the Vietnam Conflict. He lived in Dacula, Ga., for a number of years before moving to Jasper County 15 years ago. He attended the Monticello Baptist Church.

He was a member of the Walton Masonic Lodge #200 F&AM in Shady Dale. He loved to hunt and fish. He also enjoyed driving hot rods and his tractor, and collecting classic cars. He was a devoted grandpapa and especially enjoyed picking up and cracking pecans with his grandchildren. Before retirement, he worked as a construction superintendent for Southern Pan Structures.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda Smith Jones of Shady Dale; children, Amanda Jones McKenney (Tony) of Pelham, Ala., Derrick Franklin Jones (Marci) and step-son, Jereme Allegood of Monticello; grandchildren, Emma McKenney, Carson McKenney, Sam McKenney, Talula Jones, Drake Jones and Colton Jones; and brother, Wayne Lee Jones of Gainesville.

A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2617 Vinson Highway, Milledgeville, Ga. 31061. Rev. David Artessa will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until noon, Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Jordan Funeral Home, prior to the service.

The family suggests donations in lieu of flowers to the Masonic Children’s Home 1417 Nottingham Drive, Macon, GA 31211.
