Shotgun Team Heads To Nationals
These four young men–Baylor Garland, Aaron Copeland, Putnam Co.; Mitch Marsh, Jasper Co.; Riley Downs, Glascock Co.–represented Putnam County 4-H in the state shotgun shooting competition at Savannah recently.
All of them are members of the Lake Oconee Shotgun Team. A total of 298 shooters from across Georgia were on hand to compete for this state 4-H title and the chance to go on to Grand Isle, Nebraska, on June 25, to shoot in the National 4-H competition.
All three disciplines, skeet, trap and sporting clays, were shot in this competition. A total of 900 targets were possible.
The teams’ placement and total targets are as follows:
First place—Putnam County “L.O.S.T.”, 861 targets; second place—Worth County A Team, 823 targets; third place—Worth County B Team, 823 targets; fourth place—Lowndes County, 810 targets; fifth place—Bleckley County, 806 targets; sixth place—Peach County, 806 targets; seventh place—Thomas County, 793 targets.
The Putnam County “L.O.S.T.” team will compete for the national title.
Mitch Marsh is a rising senior at Piedmont Academy.
