SHADY DALE RODEO WEEKEND IS HUGE SUCCESS, AGAIN

The Number 1 Outdoor Rodeo in the country—the Shady Dale Rodeo, again was a hit, with some saying it was the best rodeo ever. There was a large crowd both nights, and the rodeo parade and festival also attracted a number of vendors and spectators.

Above left is the grand entry at the rodeo, and the middle photo is bronc riding. The photo at right is from the parade Saturday. More photos from the parade, festival and rodeo can be seen on page 14 of Thursday’s paper.

This year’s rodeo featured cowboys and cowgirls from Canada to Arkansas. Rodeo winners include Trey Moore, bareback riding; Austin Joseph, saddle bronc; Clint Madison, calf roping; Joshua Hefner, steer wrestling; Kyla Matthews, breakaway roping; Kylie Bruggeman, barrel racing; Casey Hilley/ Stephen Britnell, team roping, and Ross Burney, bull riding.

Some 4,000 spectators attended the two-day event either Friday or Saturday. The festival lasted from 10 a.m. until parade time Saturday, and some vendors reported excellent sales, while others did not. The parade featured Grand Marshal Thomas Moore, Deer Festival Queen Starr Batchelor, Shriner’s vehicles, a wagon train, more horses, several floats, local fire trucks and more.

For complete results from the rodeo, visit the International Professional Rodeo Association’s website, IPRA, which sanctions the rodeo. Proceeds will go to Shriner’s Hospitals for children, local scholarships, and other Masonic charities. It is sponsored by the Walton Masonic Lodge No. 200 Jasper Lodge No. 50.
