Ruby Jewell Walls Greenway
Ruby Jewell Walls Greenway, age 90, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle.
Ruby Greenway was born in Hull, Ga., to the late Homer Cobb Walls and Zelia Trotter Walls. She lived in Ila, Ga., until marrying the late Dorsey James Greenway in 1946. They moved to Morgan County until settling in Jasper County in 1949.
Ruby Greenway worked as a seamstress for the Monticello Manufacturing Plant until she retired. Later, she enjoyed babysitting children in her home, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Tom Walls, Homer Luther Walls, William Walls, Howard Walls, Crawford Walls, Nellie Romero, Maebelle Roberts, Annie Sue Walls and Cora Walls.
She is survived by her children, Horace (Brenda) Greenway of Gray, “Bud” Greenway of Monticello, Randy (Jill) Greenway of Milledgeville, Carolyn (David) Kasprzyk of Hillsboro, Cathy (Walt) Huyck of West Terre Haute, Ind., and Chris Greenway of Monticello; grandchildren, Bryan Greenway, Jenifer Pickens, Lauren Van Sice, Missy Skinner, Amy Presley, Christy Richardson, Shane Greenway, Melissa Mann, Michael Greenway, Steven Tillman, Kristen Huyck, Joseph Huyck, Leah Weaver, Nathan Huyck, Christina Ridgeway and Teresa Hardin; eighteen great-grandchildren; and sisters, Dora Brock of Eatonton, Jean King of Ila and Ila Mae Horton of Covington.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May 19, 2017, at Adgateville Baptist Church in Hillsboro. Interment will be held in Hebron Cemetery in Monticello. Rev. Charles Roper will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Greenway, Jeremy Mann, Bryan Greenway, Steven Tillman, James Presley, Reagan Skinner, and Chandler Jackson.
The family will receive friends frpm 6 until 8 p.m.., Thursday, May 18, 2017, at Jordan Funeral Home.
