Armed Robbery at Family Dollar

FAMILY DOLLAR IS OPEN AND OPERATING THIS WEEK AFTER ROBBERY SUNDAY

An armed robbery was reported at the Family Dollar Store on Greene Street at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 14.

An armed individual entered the store and demanded the money from the register and safe, said the announcement from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO). The individual left the store with an undisclosed amount of money.

The individual made attempts to conceal his or her identity by wearing hooded clothing and covering his or her face. Additional details cannot be released at this time as they could compromise the investigation, the announcement said.

The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is pursuing leads on the case and the case is still an active investigation. The JCSO asks that if you were at the Family Dollar Store between the hours of 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday, or if you have any information on the case, that you come forward and speak to a member if the CID.
