Sheriff’s Office Reports Incidents, Arrests

Deputies with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office responded to several reports of theft in the last week, including two in Turtle Cove. A permaport personal watercraft lift was stolen from an address on Parrot Court. A day later, a resident of Turtle Cove Trailway reported the theft of a silver bracelet.

Deputies also responded to The Retreat Nursing Home, where a resident reported the theft of a significant amount of cash. Deputies also recovered a tractor that had previously been stolen from an address in Newton County.

There was a case of theft by deception on Dumas Road whereby a Cavalier King Spaniel was sold, and the check was returned.

In addition, a number of people were booked into the Jasper County Detention Center in the last week. Those people, and their charges, include:

•Alicia King Rice, 43, Monticello—fleeing/eluding law enforcement, obstruction of a law enforcement officer and failure to maintain lane.

•Walter Lee Dorough, 30, Monticello—possession of methamphetamine, cruelty to children, first degree, battery, cruelty to children, third degree, drug related objects and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

•Andrew Welton Rowland, 22, Conyers—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and seat belt violation.

•Christopher Charles Mahaffey, 23, Monticello—criminal damage to property in the second degree, simple battery and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.

•Kimber Ann Coup, 45, Jackson—contributing to the delinquency of a minor and interference with custody.

•Taylor Todd Coup, 18, Jackson—contributing to the delinquency of a minor and interference with custody.

•Nicole Starr Anderson, 29, Shady Dale—theft by taking, financial transaction card theft and financial transaction card theft.

•Barry Clayton Dial, 51, Oxford—driving while license suspended or revoked and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•Brian Shane Smith, 28, Cross Hill, S.C.—driving while license suspended or revoked and expired tag.

•Calvin Lee Harvard, 24, Mansfield—violation of family violence order.

•Donald Torry Beacham, 38, Newborn—aggravated stalking.

•George Andrews Nix, 68, Monticello—failure to stop at stop sign, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

•David Delano Knighten, 60, Monticello—driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving while license suspended or revoked and failure to maintain lane.

•Warren Fitzgerald Akins, Jr., 30, Jackson—probation violation.

•Michael Lee Barrett, 39, Hillsboro—theft by taking (24 counts) and violation of oath by public officer.
