Cougar Tracksters Compete at State

Several Piedmont Academy track team members competed in Albany last week at the annual GISA state meet.

J.T. Webb finished fifth in the shotput (41-10) for the Piedmont boys while Trent Coots was 11th in the 3,200-meter run (13:34.63).

Madison McCart helped pace the Lady Cougars with a fifth place showing in the high jump (4-6). Teammate Alexis Dodson also competed in the event and cleared a height of 4-0, which gave her an 11th place finish.

Emily Mills (1:10.95) and Gracie Hunt (1:11.38) ran in the 400-meter dash finishing 11th and 12th respectively while Mallory Boyd handled the distance event in the 3,200-meter (20:16.17) earning 15th place in what was a tough field of runners.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Caitlyn Young, Cassidy Cook, Mills and Taylor Patterson was fifth in their preliminary heat in 52.38. The quarter qualified for the finals but were unable to compete on Saturday.

Mills also competed in the 100-meter dash (14.39).

As a team the Lady Cougars finished 15th overall while the Piedmont boys were 18th.
