Bach to the Future

The Monticello Community Band will focus on classical works in its “Bach to the Future” concert on Friday, May 5. Featuring the works of Bach, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Berlioz and Strauss, the concert will start at 7 p.m. in the Jasper County High School auditorium, 14477 Hwy. 11, just north of Monticello.

Advanced tickets are $5/person or $15/family and are available at the Monticello/Jasper County Chamber of Commerce. Tickets at the door are $10/person.

“The community band brings together regional musicians, both professionals and amateur enthusiasts, with students in a fun and educational environment,” said Jehan El-Jourbagy, the executive director of the group. “We rehearse on the first Monday of each month, and newcomers are always welcome.” The band will be awarding a graduating senior with a scholarship at the event.
