Patricia Ruth Burch

Patricia Ruth Burch, 66, wife of James Burch of Monticello, went to be with her Heavenly Father on April 151, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer.

Patsy was born in Hickory, N.C. on October 1, 1950 and was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Spinks Carver and Franklin Rea Carver.

She grew up in Orlando, Fla., where she graduated from Edgewater High School in 1968. She attended Shorter College in Rome, in 1968/1969, where she met and married fellow classmate, Jim Burch of Atlanta.

Patsy was a paraprofessional in the public school system for over 24 years where she very much enjoyed working with children with special needs. She worked at Honey Creek Elementary and Shoal Creek Elementary in Rockdale County, and Washington Park Elementary in Jasper County.

She loved animals and especially her pet cats and dogs over the years, that she treated and considered as part of her family. Patsy loved swimming almost daily off her dock on the lake, whenever weather permitted. Her favorite affection in life was time spent with her grandchildren.

Patsy is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jim and three sons, Chris Burch of Cumming, Mark Burch of Conyers, Matt Burch and his wife Mindy of Hoschton, and their two children, Jarrett and Natalie Burch, and her sister, Anne Moore of Greenville, S. C.

A private burial has been planned with the immediate family at The Honey Creek Woodlands at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers.

A special memorial service honoring Patsy’s life will be held on Saturday, April 22 at 11 a.m. at Monticello Baptist Church, 334 West Greene Street, Monticello, Ga. 31064.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patsy’s honor to Eagle Ranch, www.eagleranch.org or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
