Douglas Wayne Clayton

Douglas Wayne Clayton, age 61, of Monticello, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017, at the Sacred Journey Hospice in McDonough.

Doug Clayton was born in Myrtle Point, Oregon, and lived in Coquille, Oregon, until moving to Monticello on June 15, 1972. He graduated from Monticello High School and attended West Georgia College.

Doug worked for a number of years at Georgia Pacific. He moved to Atlanta over twenty years ago where he worked with a caterer.

Doug loved to travel and was a devoted uncle to his nieces and nephew.

His father, Richard Leroy “Dick” Clayton preceded him in death on January 9, 2017.

He is survived by his mother, Carol Walton Clayton of Monticello; sisters, Sandra C. (Russell) Cobb of Mansfield, and Shirley (Jimmy) Wise of Monticello; nieces and nephew, Niki (Robert) Barber, Becky (Dennis) Moore, David (Tiffany) Lynch and Candace (Daniel) Funt; great nephews and nieces, Rory Barber, Noah Faubli, Luke Faubli, Ireland Moore, Ethan Lynch and Emily Lynch; numerous aunts, uncle and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Williams Payne Cemetery in Monticello. Rev. David Artessa will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at the Fellowship Hall of the Monticello Baptist Church.
