Diamond Cougars Playing Well

The Piedmont Academy baseball team is on spring break but the Diamond Cougars may not really want a stoppage in play considering how well they have been performing.

The Diamond Cougars earned another GISA Region 4-AA win last week by defeating Brentwood 7-2 at home. Tate Marks pitched the first five innings allowing four hits and one run (unearned) while striking out seven batters.

Michael Edwards closed out the last two innings giving up just one hit while striking out four.

Piedmont took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first and then added a run in the fifth before scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win.

Chase Porter was 2-for-2 at the plate with a run and RBI while Tuler Mills was 2-for-3 with a run and RBI. Brock Carter had a key triple and finished the game driving in five runs.

Mack Brady was 1-for-2 and scored two runs while Owen Brady scored a run. Edwards was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

The Diamond Cougars (10-2 overall, 4-0 in region play) return to action Tuesday, April 11 against Windsor on the road at 6 p.m.
