Superior Court Is Busy this Week

Judge William A. Prior, Jr. presided over the Jasper Superior Court activities on Tuesday including the arraignment calendar for criminal cases and the motion day calendar for civil and criminal cases.

Though the court dockets were heavy with cases many were continued until future court dates.

Criminal cases that were reviewed and sentences given include the following:

Kent Anthony Miller was sentenced to serve 300 days in Jasper County jail with credit for time served since July 2016 for sale of methamphetamine. Following the jail time, the defendant is to serve seven years of probation. He was fined $1,500.

Bryant Leon Blackstock, sentenced to five years of probation for simple battery, cruelty to children in the third degree, possession of marijuana, and possession of a fire arm by convicted felon. Fined $1,000.

Quincy Tirrell Sands, sentenced to four years of probation for criminal attempt to commit a felony. Fined $1,000.

Christian Scott Gilreath, sentenced to three years of probation for two separate charges. The first charge includes two counts of reckless conduct, cruelty to children in the third degree, and battery, family violence and the second charge includes one count of battery. Fined $1,300.

Melvin Dennis, sentenced to 12 months of probation for simple battery, family violence. Fined $300.

Natvur Patel, sentenced to 12 months of probation for underage possession of alcohol. Fined $200.

Flora Purvis, sentenced to 11 months of probation for disorderly conduct. Fined $400.

Leonardo Daniel Sarabia, sentenced to 11 months of probation for two counts of possession of marijuana and improper parking. Fined $1,100.

Randy Eugene Hall, sentenced to six months of probation for simple battery, family violence. Fined $100.

Probation revocations included:

Michael Hopkins, probation revoked to 116 days in Jasper County jail for failure to adhere to several probation conditions.

Larandy Gotel, probation revoked to 30 days in Jasper County jail for failure to adahere to probation conditions.
