Talent, Art Show Winners Named

Drew Schilling playing the piano won the Class A competition in the Monticello Kiwanis Club Art and Talent Showcase held last Friday at Jasper County High School.
For his efforts, Mr. Schilling will advance to the state show to be held in April to compete for up to $3,500 in scholarships and awards.
Second place in that group went to Izaiah Catlin who played the harmonica, and America Strickland placed third singing “Ain’t It Fun.”
Art winners for Class A included Nataleigh Long, first place, Megan Truskosky, second, and Amber York, third. Honorable Mention goes to Savannah Dougherty, America Strickland and Alina Jablonski.
Class B (grades six-eight) winners in the talent show were Kate Schilling, first, playing the piano, William McElheney, second, on the trumpet, and Ryan Henderson, third, playing bass guitar.
In the youngest class, grades kindergarten through fifth grade, the winner was Faraday Harty singing “Let It Go” followed by brother, Ryker Harty playing the violin, and a tie for third between Xaivier Adams singing and dancing and Tom Schilling playing the piano.
Art winners in that class were Katelyn Dorough, first; Bailey Mobley, second, and Skyler Farley, third.
The artwork was submitted on Thursday, and winners were announced at the show where the artwork was on display.
Stone Workman served as emcee for the event, and Kiwanis President Robert Cumbie welcomed all.
Other particpants in Class C included Alexi Tillman playing piano, Ryker and Faraday Harty on the violin and cello, Leigha Perkins and Zoe Sene-Atkinson singing, Naomi Griffis and Lorilei Fowler, comedy routine, Landon Hicks, singing, April Cunard, singing, Ben Wojdacz, guitar, Riley Holland on piano, and Emma Holmes singing.
Other Class B participants included J.K. Strength on trumpet, Malyle Thurman, percussion; Isabella Waddell, trumpet; Cassie White, singing; and M’Kayla Middlebrooks and Emily McElheney, trumpet and clarinet.
Other entrants in Class A included Hope Brill on trumpet, and Quindaious Cobb, singing.
Other students entering art included Nusayba Ahmad, Bethany Carnes, Brianna Flowres, Hayley Lanier, Malia Moore, Allen Rutherford, Shan Aikens, Willie Cosby, Kylie Fuller, Tyler Phillips, Madison Smith, Ansley Atkinson, Morgan Baker, Ruby Duarte, Joshua Hudson, Dulce D. Martinez, Alex Mendoza, Haley Pitchford, Lillian Redd, and Tamara Stewart.
The Kiwanis Club donates all its proceeds back to the community with the music programs at the schools being among the recipients. Kiwanis congratulates all the contestants, and appreciates their participation.
