Rodney Goolsby

A homegoing celebration for Rodney Goolsby was held Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Concord Primitive Baptist Church in Monticello. Elder H.G. Terry, pastor, officiated; burial was in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers were Warick Pearson, Travis Williams, Leontae Wrice, Derek Campbell, Harold Wrice, Jr., and Henry Williams.

Mr. Goolsby, known to many as “Big Boy” was born in Jasper County on December 26, 1966, to Mamie Lee Goolsby and the late Henry Vance Goolsby, Sr.

The Lord called him to his eternal home on January 15, 2017.

In addition to his father, his brother, Henry Vance Goolsby, Jr., preceded him in death.

Mr. Goolsby received his formal education in the Bibb County school system. For several years, he worked as a roofer for L.E. Schwartz Company.

Surviving his departure with cherished memories include his mother, Mrs. Mamie Lee Goolsby of Macon; a loving daughter, Tynicea Wiley of Macon; two brothers, Frederick (Annie) Carter and Keith Carter, both of Macon; three sisters, Cassandra Pennamon of Monticello, Teresa Goolsby and Tomeca Goolsby, both of Macon; four aunts (three of Monticello and one of Macon), and an uncle of Monticello. Also, a special niece, Shakera Goolsby of Savannah, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
