Mat Cougars Prepare for Region

Piedmont Academy’s wrestlers continue to show improvement as the 2016-2017 region tournament begins to draw closer.

The Mat Cougars competed at a tournament hosted by Trinity Christian School in Dublin this past weekend and two team members placed third including Tanner Coppock (170) and Logan Conner (195).

Piedmont also hosted a home meet recently which gave all team members a chance to compete, coach Alvin Hawkes said.

“We have a couple more weeks until our region tournament,” the coach said. “We have to continue to improve as we close in on region.”

The Mat Cougars are scheduled to travel to Windsor Academy in Macon today, Jan. 19 for a 5 p.m. match and will compete at John Milledge Academy Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 5 p.m.

The region tournament is set for Saturday, Feb. 4 in Perry.
