Deborah Faye Lyon Webb
Deborah Faye Lyon Webb, age 59, of Monticello, passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2017, at her residence.
Deborah Webb was born in Atlanta, Ga., to the late Harold Lloyd Lyon and Dorothy Inez Goddard Lyon. She was raised in Lithonia, and later, moved to Semmes, Ala.
Deborah moved to Monticello in 1989 to open Deborah Lyon Nursery with her family and continued to operate the business, in a limited capacity, until her death.
Deborah was a well-known business person in Monticello and will be missed. She, along with her family, designed and implemented the landscapes of the Jasper County Primary School, Washington Park Elementary School, Monticello High School, both local banks, Dairy Queen and Motel, and most notable, Monticello Town Square.
She also loved applying her green thumb to Jasper County’s Annual Deer Festival and other community events by donating the use of her numerous green house flowers. Hopefully, her children and siblings can keep her memory alive by continuing her business.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tarra (David) Nix of Alpharetta; son, Keith Webb of Alpharetta; grandchildren, Lacey Dennis, Brittney Dennis, Hunter Nix, Taylor Nix, Matthew Webb, Caleb Webb, Faith Webb and Alex Bucknell; and sisters, Teresa Harley of Monticello and Peggy (Joe) Heard and Denise Lyon of Covington.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 12, 2017, at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held at West View Cemetery beside her parents and long-time friend and companion, Ken Slaughter.. Rev. David Artessa will officiate.
