Woman Has Purse Snatched at CVS

Officers with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) are looking for a man responsible for a robbery Monday at the CVS Pharmacy on Greene Street in Monticello.

A shopper had left the store and was getting into her vehicle when she felt a tug on her purse, said Sheriff Donnie Pope. At first she thought it was someone she knew. As she turned towards the assailant, he snatched her purse, and ran through the bushes between CVS and the Jasper County Health Department. It was a dark and rainy night, but the woman said the robber was a black male, about 5’9” to 6’ tall. He was wearing a dark blue hoodie, dark pants, and a baseball hat with a black bill.

Anyone who saw anything or may know who the perpetrator is is asked to call the JCSO at 706-468-4912, or the anonymous TIPS line at 706-468-JCSO (5276).

Sheriff Pope said the JCSO will increase patrols in the area and is working to get a resolution to this robbery. Everyone is reminded to always pay attention to their surroundings.
