Tech Fans Prevail

Ga. Tech’s defeat of Georgia this weekend made some Tech fans very happy…especially this week’s prize sponsor, Wes Crowe of Covington Ford, and this week’s winner, Zach Norris.
Both are diehard Tech fans, and Mr. Crowe’s business sponsors this game every year, but he doesn’t always get bragging rights. Both the prize giver and receiver had big smiles this week though.
Mr. Norris didn’t just get the Tech game right…he correctly picked the winners of 14 of the 15 games listed in last week’s Monticello News football contest. And, he only missed the tie-breaker by one point, guessing 56 points would be scored in Tech’s 28-27 win over Georgia.
Mr. Norris regularly plays the football contest, but had not yet made the honor roll this year. However, his name is on there now, along with many others.
Lots of people did well this week, with almost 50 people making the honor roll, either for the first time or for an additional chance at the grand prize. The grand prize is four tickets to the Chick-Fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta New Year’s Eve.
(The News failed to print the updated honor roll last week, and we apologize for the error. This week’s honor roll, on page 13, should be accurate.)
If your name is not on the honor roll, it’s not too late. There’s still this week and next week to pick the winners in 12 or more games listed to have your name added to the honor roll.
This week’s contest promises to be difficult, again. It features a number of college playoff games, as well as the professional games. Anyone can win…you don’t have to know football to pick the winners. Some pick by mascot; others research each team completely. But, there’s almost always at least one upset.
Whoever picks the most winners this week will collect a $25 prize from Abbey Hospice, sponsor of the week.
So, sharpen your pencil, and get to work. Pick the winners of each game listed, by number, and turn your entry into The Monticello News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 2. Entries may be faxed to 706-468-6576; e-mailed to info@themonticellonews.com, or brought in person to 247 West Washington Street, Monticello.
