Cougars Fall on the Road

Piedmont Academy’s varsity basketball teams returned to action Tuesday night on the road against LaGrange Academy.

The Lady Cougars fell 42-40 in a close game, which went into overtime. The teams were tied at 34 at the end of regulation. Gracie Hunt led Piedmont with 12 points while Haley Ann Frank added nine points and Hailey Hooper finished with eight points, including a three-pointer.

LaGrange held a slim two-point lead after the third quarter.

Madison McCart added five points for the Lady Cougars while Rylee Owens scored four and Alexis Dodson added two.

Piedmont’s varsity boys fell 64-42 Tuesday night at LaGrange despite a 14-point effort from Sam Wright. Tate marks added nine points while Dylan Coe scored eight and J.T. Webb contributed six points. Sam Younker finished with three points while Joseph Anderson scored two points. Tuesday’s game was the season debut for the Piedmont boys.

LaGrange jumped out to a 17-9 lead after the first quarter and led 35-16 at halftime.

Piedmont Academy’s varsity basketball teams will have a full slate of games in the next few days playing at St. George Episcopal Thursday beginning at 6 p.m. and at home Friday against John Milledge Academy, also at 6 p.m. The teams will then host Creekside Saturday with varsity games starting at 3 p.m. with games Tuesday against Covenant at home at 6 p.m.

The Middle School teams will play at St. George Thursday beginning at 3:30 p.m. before hosting John Milledge Saturday at 3:45 p.m.
