MS ‘Cougars Open Season with Win

Piedmont Academy’s middle school basketball teams opened the new season with road wins Tuesday against Skipstone.

The Lady Cougars earned a 26-22 win as Maddie Waddleton lead the team with eight points. Sydney Stroud added seven points while Hannah Tyler finished with four and Malynne Webb scored three.

The game was close throughout with the MS Lady Cougars leading 12-8 at halftime and 17-13 after the third quarter.

Haley Ann Frank and Fleming Sealy both scored two points in the win.

The boys took a 34-24 win behind a balanced scoring attack led by Ryan Holder with nine points and Cameron Mobley with eight. Dawson Coe finished with six points while Drake Coody scored five.

The boys had a strong first half in their opener building a 16-point advantage.

Brody Anderson and Andrew Parish both scored two points while Ryan Reeves and Landon Conner added a free throw each.
