Six Get 12 Right; Tie-breaker Matters

Twelve was the magic number for last week’s football contest, with six participants getting as many as 12 right and making the grand prize honor roll. Of those six, Steve Jordan guessed 65 for the tie-breaker, and that was the closest in Monticello’s 55-14 loss to Rabun County last Friday.
For his efforts he picked up a $25 prize from Adam McGinnis at Southern Edge Farm & Home, sponsor of the week.
Others who guessed 12 right but were further off the tie-breaker included Kaitlyn Harvey, Kenshika Davis, Tommy Davis, Tammy Harvey, and Kenny Harvey. They all guessed lower tie-breaker scores. No one else made the honor roll this week, just those six.

Mr. Jordan also beat out many other people he works with, as the Bank of Monitcello takes the football contest seriously. Like many groups, how they did on the football contest, or how they will do is a subject for discussion each weekend.
And there’s still time left to make the honor roll, or even win the $25 weekly prize. This week offers another assortment of high school, college and pro games. All you have to do is pick the winner of each, write it on the entry form or another piece of paper, and submit it to The News office no later than 5 p.m. tomorrow, Nov. 11.
This week’s winner will pick up a $25 prize from Primary Care Center, sponsor of the week.
Whether you play just for fun, or are trying to beat your significant other, co-worker, Sunday school classmate, or whoever, anyone can win. Some weeks people who do all the homework end up winning; other times, the winner choses by mascot or color, and wins. There’s no cheat sheet when it comes to football.
So, fill out your entry, and turn it in. You might just be the winner.
